These ceramics by Zeita Scott (part of the Shuffle collection) are really quite mesmerizing, enough so that it’s almost a shame to fill them with food! Bright colors are comfortably wrapped in dark brown, with a matching colored dot on the outside. The larger platters feature an accent line and coffee stain-like ring, which matches the clearly handmade appeal of these pieces.

Inspired by Japanese tableware and the vibrant colors of New Orleans architecture, Zeita’s pieces are designed to be mixed and matched–in other words, shuffled–with each other. The collection is dynamic and energetic, enough so that while children may play with their food, adults will most definitely play with these plates.

A quick look at Zeita’s resume shows a devotion to ceramics beyond a hobbyist level, with experience in a broad array of techniques and material. Above are pieces from her Lipstick and Smooch collections, respectively exhibited in 2004 and 2001. Although it doesn’t seem that her pieces are for sale, one can’t help but wish and at least be inspired. For more information, visit her site, Zeita Scott Ceramics.
