wood jewelry and accessories by paradise hill

Wood is something I normally associate with furniture, but Rick & Heidi at Paradise Hill have done a wonderful job at adapting it to jewelry. Just check out these amazing pendants and earrings–nothing too flashy, but definitely charming while retaining their natural appeal. Their designs are a combination of woodburning techniques and painted acrylics, all of which is sealed with a “diamond finish” on top; the bottom of the pieces are left unfinished so you can feel the original wood.

I particularly like that Rick & Heidi use reclaimed woods; living in British Columbia, I’d expect the temptation to use fresh lumber to be overwhelming, but the couple actually enjoys sourcing their materials from old buildings, barns and fences. This of course ensures that no two pieces are alike; boards are sanded yet retain their patina, giving a characteristic “rustic refined” look.

In addition to jewelry, the Paradise hill also carries lovely trinket boxes, weathered frames and tealight holders. If you love natural, environmentally-friendly design as much as I do, you should definitely stop by Rick & Heidi’s shop here!
