the tie lab

Bethany Shorb admits that her hand-silkscreened ties aren’t for anyone; most either love them or hate them. I definitely side with the former group–while drab ties bore me, hers make my heart skip a beat every time I see them! From simple crosses to more complex poppy patterns, squids and even sailing ships, Tie Lab screenprints by hand using water-based inks that are ideal for fine fabrics and better for the environment.

Although Bethany’s shop carries silk ties, she also offers microfiber and cotton; as many of her clients are musicians, an easy-to-clean tie is worth its weight in gold. Featured in the NY Times, Details and Fabulist, her work is definitely on the “stylish” end of things but undoubtedly cute and playful as well.
