stripe by lisbet friis

Europe is a continent rich with symbols and tradition; Danish textiles designer Lisbet Friis bases her colorful Stripe pillows on ribbons on medals and insignia, no doubt inspired by her storied surroundings. Her patterns, of course, are an order of magnitude more vivid than the real thing, giving them an amazingly fresh and energetic appeal.

My favorite aspect of her Stripe collection is the truly Continental effort that goes into each pillow; Lisbet develops the patterns and colors from her own workshop in Denmark, yet the fabrics are fine Belgian Linen which are hand-printed at Ljungbergs of Sweden. Available in limited quantities at Tivoli Home, they have a price to match their uniqueness, but it’s hard to deny that they catch your eye.
