sock monkeys by dawn

You can tell a lot about a person based on their eyes–even if they’re embroidered as in the case of Dawn’s cute sock monkeys! Each one has an endearing and innocent face that makes them instant T.S.C. (targets of spontaneous cuddling); it’s probably a combination of the sweet little eyes, the big, bulbous mouth and adorable semicircular ears.

One thing that you’ll notice about Dawn’s monkeys is that they’re very consistent; this is because she puts a considerable amount of time into developing quality toys that last. For starters, she uses fresh, unused cotton socks and washes to check for shrinkage; the eyes on most are also embroidered to make them safe for young children. What impresses me most is that Dawn hand-sews to make sure the stripes match up on each seam, and then machine stitches two more times for strength.

Dawn’s definitely been at it for quite awhile when you start to browse through her gallery; it seems like she’s got every stripe and pattern covered, from rainbows to flowers to hearts and stars. In fact, she’ll even custom make your own monkey on request; to place a special order or to view her available monkeys, you can visit her Etsy store here!

I don’t normally like monkeys, but these ones are definitely exceptions! They totally put a smile on my face when I saw their bright colors.
It’s obvious that much care and thought has gone into making each stuffed monkey perfect. Love it, and love the effort.
