Many artists draw their inspiration from their immediate surroundings; if this is the case, Joan Theodore’s Simply Modern shop must be brimming with inspiration! The reason? Joan works and travels in an RV, and regularly ships her pieces from whatever state she happens to be visiting at the time of your purchase. Above are her beautiful art pendants, which feature a decoupaged mini print and original matching hand-painted patterns on the sides; I really, really like the artwork that she’s selected for these pieces, as they’re literally bursting with color.

Joan does have a home base in Florida (itself an inspiring state), but it’s clear from the variety of her work that she’s making the most of her journeys. Her floral art has an unmistakably modern feel, and is perhaps inspired by the unending variety of flowers and plants that she comes across as she travels from state to state.

The pieces that I’d most like to own are her bird art prints. Many of these mix in pinks, whites, browns and hints of blue for a decidedly retro/modern look that is both cute and contemporary.
