shoshona snow ceramics

Some modern ceramics tend to be a little bit too modern for my tastes; what I like about Shoshona Snow’s work is that she mixes in a bit of fun and festive style. Sure, she may make heavy use of black and white, but take a close look and you’ll find beautiful hand-carved patterns that range from tribal stripes to grains of rice.

It also helps that Shoshona often adds a generous splash of color to each piece, generally for the inner glaze. I find that it beautifully contrasts with the monochrome exterior, in essence balancing both my contemporary longings and my more fun-loving tendencies. 1. I admire Shoshanna’s simple strong colours and tribal designs. I grew up in South Africa and her work really resonates for me.
