ohpotato necklaces by jessie keylon
Like little self-contained worlds, each of Jessie Keylon’s beautiful necklaces are delicately painted with city skylines set against amber and blue skies. However, these are not your generic city panoramas as each pendant tells a cute little story; here are a few lines:
“There are buildings nestled against the mountains; they look so cozy …”
“I have always known I would take this road. But yesterday I did not know it would be today.”
Each piece has an enchanting passage like the ones above in its description; in essence, wearing an ohpotato necklace is like having a little piece of poetry next your heart.
Made from a hardwood disk that is then painted with acrylic paint, Jessie’s pendants measure only 1-1.5 inches across but pack in amazing little details. From the incandescent glow of windows (which always seem to be on, even in the daytime) to the little blinking antennas atop buildings, it’s a joy to examine her work up close and personal.
Jessie frames each piece in dark acrylic paint, which really adds to the feeling that this is artwork in miniature. I particularly love that she paints on paper from vintage dictionaries which is appropriate and profound given the poetic background of each piece. Although she’s new to Etsy, I can tell that Jessie has a bright future ahead of her; to see more of her work, visit her store here!
