NeedleNoodles’ Neat Knits

I absolutely love these crocheted creations by NeedleNoodles, a self-professed “geeky lass with a fondness for crafts.” Located in Virginia, she creates Amigurumi critters and patterns and sells them through her Etsy website. For the uninitiated, Amigurumi is the art of knitting small, stuffed toys. Usually crocheted in the round, this Japanese crafts movement started off with animals but is enjoyed the world over and includes anything that is relatively simple and cute.

Using nothing more than acrylic yarn, polyfill and bits of polymer clay, NeedleNoodles’ characters convey a surprising amount of emotion. My favorite piece is the Ninja (which unfortunately is sold out), but the Angel/Devil and the Ghost are great runners-up and just in time for Halloween.

If you’re into food, the assorted candies and sushi (which comes with its own to-go box) look almost good enough to eat! For the adventurous, NeedleNoodles also sells patterns – including instructions on how to knit your own yummy breakfast. After all, the heart and soul of Amigurumi is about making your own unique crafts!
