joom

Joom is one of those shops that is immediately eye catching: there’s just something about simple, clean shapes against a contrasting background that is impossible to ignore. Perhaps most famous for her pillows, designer Joom Klangsin received a BFA in her native Thailand before venturing over to the US to study graphic design.

Each of her pillows feature graphics silkscreened on cotton and/or silk, with polyfill and a zipper for easy cleaning. Joom finds inspiration in the world around her, and regularly uses silhouettes of birds and plant life. Many of these images are also available in canvas, card and framed print forms, which gives an attractive alternative to her already affordable handmade pillows.

I perhaps shouldn’t have been surprised that Joom also has a portfolio of amazing (albeit racy) art; it’s quite different from her home accessories but the same signature elements are there: clean, well-defined shapes and wonderful use of colors. She’s even dabbled in shoe design, having worked in her father’s shoe company in Thailand. For more information on Joom, please feel free to visit her website or her Etsy shop!
